SOTUVER is a manufacturer of hollow glass producing containers for the food industry since 1967 covering the Mediterranean basin, Africa and the Middle East.
The Tunisian company approached glass melting technology specialist HORN with the new project “Cold Repair of Furnace no. 2”. The Furnace No.2 project in Tunisia included the replacement of the existing furnace in order to convert it into a 150 t/d regenerative end fired furnace with two forehearths from the latest HORN GCS 301-advanced series for the production of container glass in emerald green. The order also included the enlargement of the existing melting area to 66.3 m².
HORN’s latest forehearth system with direct/indirect cooling was used for both lines in order to obtain optimum temperature homogeneity at the spout. The furnace was designed in appliance with the most advanced technology with regards to optimised energy consumption to reduce carbon emissions.
Within this furnace rebuild, HORN supplied a complete package of design, engineering of the refractory materials and steel structure as well as the complete construction works. HORN´s scope of supply also included the natural gas heating for the furnace and forehearths as well as their measuring and control equipment together with a SCADA process control system and proven batch charging technology.
Under the construction supervision of HORN together with its subsidiary company HORN India Pvt. Ltd., the new melting furnace was successfully commissioned on 16th July 2024.
HORN would like to thank SOTUVER for their trust and confidence in our work and look forward to the successful continuation of our partnership in the future.
